If something didn't go as planned, we make it right. Here is exactly how to file a moving claim with Illinois Movers Inc, what to document, and how long each step takes.
We stand behind every move we handle as a licensed carrier (USDOT #2628513). On the rare occasion an item is damaged or missing, our in-house claims process is built to resolve things quickly and fairly — no runaround, no third-party broker to chase. Follow the steps below.
Important: retain all damaged items and their original packing materials until your claim is finalized. A physical inspection may be required, and discarding them can affect your settlement.
Interstate moves include a valuation level that determines how a claim is settled. Under Full-Value Protection, we are liable for the replacement value of your shipment: for any lost or damaged article, we will repair it, replace it with a like item, or make a cash settlement for the current market value. Basic released-value coverage, by contrast, pays only a limited amount per pound. Your estimate and Bill of Lading state the coverage you selected — ask your coordinator if you are unsure.
For interstate moves, federal rules give you a generous window — up to nine months from the delivery date to file a written claim. We recommend filing as soon as you notice an issue so details and evidence are fresh.
Your Booking ID or Bill of Lading number, a detailed description of the affected items and the damage, and high-resolution photos (context shots plus close-ups).
The investigative phase typically concludes within 5–7 business days of receiving your complete submission. Complex claims may take a little longer.
Our own in-house claims specialists — not an outside broker. One team owns your file from submission to final resolution.
